Lexus has achieved record sales in May on the back of impressive results for its popular SUV range and the ES 300h luxury mid-size sedan.
The May sales total for Lexus of 860 vehicles is 5.9 per cent ahead of the previous May record of 812 sales set last year.
May is the most successful month for Lexus sales so far this year and is 19.6 per cent higher than the 719 sales delivered in April.
It is also the company's best month since the June end-of-financial year result last year (961 sales) - with further growth in prospect this month.
Lexus SUVs continue to set new records with a total of 662 vehicles sold in May, which is 10.0 per cent ahead of the same month last year.
Lexus has now sold more SUVs in the first five months of this year than at any comparable time in its history.
Sales of 2,945 SUVs to the end of May represent an increase of 9.2 per cent over the previous record (2,697 SUVs) achieved in January-May last year.
The most popular Lexus SUV, the NX Line, has recorded its best month since July last year with 284 sales.
Next strongest is the luxury RX Line with 199 sales - its best month since October last year and its best May since 2013.
The newly arrived luxury compact SUV, the UX Line, continues its promising sales performance with 145 deliveries while the LX has achieved its highest January-May sales in 16 years (197 vehicles).
Other May highlights include the delivery of 60 ES 300h sedans, making it both the best May and the ES Line's strongest January-May period in five years.
As a result, Lexus sales so far this year have grown to 3,838 vehicles - on par with the brand's best-ever result at this stage of a calendar year.
During June, Lexus is offering supreme value with $10,000 steps between the drive-away pricing of its best-selling compact UX, midsize NX and large RX petrol variants
Lexus chief executive Scott Thompson said Lexus will build on its momentum in June, backed by the strong offers that capitalise on the strength of its SUV line-up.
"Positive signs of renewed customer interest in the luxury sector encourage us as we move towards achieving all-time record sales in the first half of this year," Mr Thompson said.
