TOYOTA AUSTRALIA RECALLS RAV4 VEHICLES DUE TO FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving RAV4 petrol and hybrid vehicles produced between 25th September 2019 and 17th October 2019. The total number of vehicles involved is 1,552.

The front lower suspension arms, which connect to the front wheels, of involved vehicles may have been affected by improper production conditions. As a result, small cracks may form on some portions of the surface of the front lower suspension arms.

If the vehicle is frequently operated with rapid acceleration and deceleration, over its lifetime these small cracks may propagate and the front lower suspension arm may eventually separate from the front wheel assembly. This may result in loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace both front lower suspension arms with new parts free of charge.

It is expected that it will take approximately 3 hours to replace the front lower suspension arms. However, depending upon the Dealer's work schedule, it may be necessary for the owner to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Toyota Australia will provide all owners of involved vehicles details of this safety recall campaign by SMS, email and/or mail to their last known address and phone number. Owners are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.

Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local/preferred Toyota Dealer in the first instance or the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-7.00pm AEST). Please quote your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
